{"id":4046,"date":"2021-02-16T15:35:39","date_gmt":"2021-02-16T14:35:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jacarandas-international.com\/?p=4046"},"modified":"2021-02-18T17:30:08","modified_gmt":"2021-02-18T16:30:08","slug":"fair-for-life-ffl-certification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jacarandas-international.com\/en\/fair-for-life-ffl-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"Fair for Life (FFL) Certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For several months now, we have been working on a Fair for Life certification program within our partner agricultural sectors.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4068 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/jacarandas-international.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG-20201022-WA0013-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jacarandas-international.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG-20201022-WA0013-1.jpg 480w, https:\/\/jacarandas-international.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG-20201022-WA0013-1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This project has been slowed down by the context and restrains related to COVID-19, in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of 2021, we are working vigorously to obtain FFL certification within a few weeks!<\/p>\n<p><strong>This certification coincides with our social and environmental approach<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Fair for Life certification represents a guarantee for all participants in the supply chain, to work under fair and equitable conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The FFL certification ensures a minimum wage and suitable working conditions for producing farmers, field agents and factory staff.<\/p>\n<p>It also allows the creation of a financial fund, calculated on the Export turnover, which is reversed to the certified cooperative.<\/p>\n<p>Fair for Life is an international certification program, based on referencial standards, both in fair trade and defined social criteria (ISO 26000, ILO conventions, IFOAM).<\/p>\n<p>The certification program is independent and transparent, with possibility for gradual improvements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recrutement Responsable Certification FFL<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>To carry out this project, we recruited Faratiana TSIZA, our Fair for Life certification manager.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4072 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/jacarandas-international.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/FFL-Faratiana-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"793\" height=\"529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jacarandas-international.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/FFL-Faratiana-2.jpg 793w, https:\/\/jacarandas-international.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/FFL-Faratiana-2-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 793px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Faratiana has already completed her final internship in our research department. She obtained her degree in agricultural engineering with the congratulations of the jury!<\/p>\n<p>With her knowledge and qualities, demonstrated in the field and in the office, this talented and methodical young woman&#8217;s mission is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To set up the FFL certification methodology,<\/li>\n<li>Obtain certification from the identified partner channels,<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of the FFL internal control system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For this first step, we start with the certification of one product, Cinnamon:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have selected partner companies in the area of Vatomandry and Mahanoro, on the East-Coast of the island.<\/p>\n<p>About a hundred partner farmers will benefit from this program. They are cinnamon producers, a historical raw material of our company, which we work in essential oils and spices <a href=\"https:\/\/jacarandas-si.com\/en\/madagascar-cinnamon\/.\">https:\/\/jacarandas-si.com\/en\/madagascar-cinnamon\/.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Towards an first certification, starting in the first quarter of 2021:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This certification is a start which corresponds to our commitment and your needs. Our goal is to quickly expand this program to other agricultural sectors and products:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Turmeric<\/li>\n<li>Ylang-Ylang<\/li>\n<li>Ravintsara<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Niaouli<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All these references are already certified organic.<\/p>\n<p><img
